His life may have been short lived, but it was well lived. He was a proud dad to his two beautiful children, Olivia and Thomas. He was a devoted husband to the love of his life Christina. He was a dedicated & hard worker for the International Longshoremen Association Local 1814. He took pride in his career and the brotherhood of the local union.

TJ always put family first. His undeniable bond with his father and the way he protected his mother. He made it his point to be very much involved as an uncle, a brother, a son and a cousin. Most of all his friendships he had since he was a child. His family will always feel the absence of his presence, he was a huge piece to his family.

TJ had the kind of energy that made you always want to be around him. He found a way to make you laugh without even really trying. Most would say he was a goof ball but definitely as he would always say “awkward”.  The most amazing trait TJ had was how much he would do anything for the people he loved. You knew how much he loved you through his actions. He was the first one to offer help anyway he could.

Many people with Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy (HCM) do not realize they have it. Sometimes there are no symptoms, but sometimes there are symptoms that can be misconstrued as something else. TJ was told he suffered from anxiety. He stopped with coffee and changed habits that would trigger anxiety not knowing he had a heart condition. HCM is a disease in which the heart muscle becomes thickened. The thickened heart muscle can make it harder for the heart to pump blood.

One of the reasons we are putting this event is to raise awareness about how HCM can go unnoticed, as it did in TJ. HCM is a genetic disease, being passed down for generations. TJ’s passing has promoted family members to get the genetic testing done. His two children were tested and unfortunately his daughter Olivia tested positive for the gene. The money raised will go to HCMA to help fund more research to help kids like Olivia with resources and more.

He will live on through the person he was to the lives he has touched, especially his family. He deserves to be remembered in a very special way doing the one thing he loved to do, which is golf. People who really got to know him knew he was simply the best. September 9th is a day to remember and honor such an amazing person. Thank you for your love and support. We hope TJ’s story will help bring awareness to at least one person if not more.

  • HCM is a disease in which the heart muscle becomes thickened and the thickened heart muscle can make it harder for the heart to pump blood.

    • Causes: HCM is often caused by genetic mutations that are inherited. It can run in families and be passed down through generations.

    • Symptoms: Symptoms can vary widely and may include chest pain, shortness of breath, palpitations, dizziness, and fainting. Some individuals with HCM may not experience any symptoms.

    • Diagnosis: Diagnosis is typically made using imaging techniques such as echocardiography (ultrasound of the heart), MRI, and sometimes genetic testing.

    • Complications: HCM can lead to several complications, including arrhythmias (irregular heartbeats), heart failure, and an increased risk of sudden cardiac arrest.

    • Treatment: Treatment options may include medications to manage symptoms and reduce the risk of complications, lifestyle changes, and in some cases, surgical procedures such as septal myectomy (removal of part of the thickened heart muscle) or implantation of a defibrillator.

  • Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy Association is a non profit organization dedicated to providing support, education and advancing research for HCM and those who have it but also shed light on this horrible disease. HCM can go unnoticed in many people until it is too late, so we want to bring awareness to the disease in hopes that it can save someone’s life in the future by getting checked.

  • No! We have separate tickets available for non-golfers if you'd like to come support but don't play golf. Join us for free food, open bar, = coffee, raffles & more!

  • A portion of the proceeds from the outing will go directly to HCMA with another portion going towards a college fund for TJ's two children.
